As you move forward and are about to get started with your new, healthier lifestyle, one of the most important steps that you should be taking is re-organizing your fridge for healthy eating. As the saying goes, “Out of sight, Out of mind.”
If you have a number of food items in your home that are definitely unhealthy and are going to tempt you during those hard times, it’s time that they got the BOOT. If the food is not kept in your home, you’ll find that very rarely will you ever actually go out of your way to pick that food up at the grocery store or convenience store nearby. Here are a few easy ways to help you organize your fridge for healthy eating.
First things first, it’s time to toss the junk! The faster you can get the junk food out of your home, the better. Keep in mind if the food is not natural, it does not belong in your kitchen.
Take time to check the expirartion dates on your food. It’s far too easy to leave food in the fridge well past the expiry day and not even realize it. You could wind up sick as a result.
Make sure that all food in your home is safe to eat. Healthier grocery list health eating begins with a healthy grocery list. This will help keep you on track when you’re at the grocery store. Only pick up the healthy items that are on the list that you had set out to buy.
When going out to the grocery store keep in mind these items:
Try and shop only in this perimeter of the grocery store as best as possible as this will keep you selecting foods that are healthy and great to put into your body. Grocery shop for all these items so they’re available, ready and waiting for you to eat them.
Put Nutrition Foods Up Front! It’s a smart idea to put your nutritional foods in the front of your fridge. This way, you’re more likely to reach for them most often. Consider pre-chopping vegetables as soon as you get home from the grocery store. If they’re already chopped, you’ll be that much more likely to reach for them as a quick snack on the go.
Start getting into a weekly routine of preparing your food. Plan and prepare as many meals at once as you can so that you’ll eat healthy for the week ahead. BikiniBOD always recommends prepping food on Sundays and Wednesdays! The less cooking you have to do during your busy work week, the better.
Remember that when it comes to succeeding with your nutrition plan, preparation is half the battle. So have a look at your current fridge situation.
